Japanese professor Yoshihiko Okabe visited NAU
On September 12, 2024, Professor Yoshihiko Okabe (Japan) visited the National Aviation University at the invitation of acting Alla Kozhina, Head of the Department of Public Management and Administration of NNINO.
Professor Okabe is a well-known figure in the field of international relations and Ukrainian studies, doctor of economic and historical sciences, director of the Ukrainian Research Center of Kobe Gakuin University, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Japan (Hyogo Prefecture), chairman of the Association of Ukrainianists in Japan. He is a scientist and public figure, well known in Ukraine for a long time for his consistent support of Ukrainian culture and significant contribution to strengthening ties between Japan and Ukraine.
The program of the visit included a meeting with acting director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Continuing Education Svitlana Mizyuk and the heads of structural divisions of the Institute. During the meeting, possible areas of cooperation were discussed, in particular, the organization of joint symposia, conferences and training programs, exchange of experience in the certification of educational programs. The guest was particularly interested in the proposals of Oleksiy Lysak, head of the Center for Veteran Development, regarding the possibility of involving Japanese specialists in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian veterans through bionic prosthetics and the organization of sports events (in particular airsoft).
An important part of Yoshihiko Okabe’s visit was an open lecture on “State-public cooperation of Ukraine and Japan: the experience of Hyogo Prefecture” for students, post-graduate students and scientific and teaching staff, which was held in the Meeting Hall of the Scientific Council of NAU.
The lecture was opened by the chairman of the NAU reorganization commission, acting Rector Ksenia Semenov, who emphasized the interest in the development of cooperation between Ukrainian and Japanese scientists.
During the lecture, the professor talked about his experience of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation for 15 years. He answered the questions of students and teachers of the National Aviation University regarding various aspects of interaction between Ukraine and Japan.
The event was held in English with simultaneous translation into Ukrainian provided by the Faculty of Linguistics and Social Communications.
The guest was greatly interested in learning about the history of NAU by visiting the exhibits of the NAU Museum from the Hangar.
