Implementation of the “Veteran Development Center” Project at NAU
For a year, the Center for Veteran Development has been operating at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Continuing Education of the National Aviation University, which is a key element in the difficult process of a person’s transition from military service to civilian life, rehabilitation of veterans and their integration into their communities. The Center for Veteran Development has all the opportunities to accumulate the potential of scientists, researchers of university departments of various specialties, business programs, as well as the expertise of public organizations, and most importantly, to hear and focus on the experience and requests of the veterans themselves.
Veterans returning to peaceful life have a hard time adapting to new realities and need support in solving many issues. These are legal points with the preparation of various documents, and medical assistance and rehabilitation, and retraining. Inclusive processes, reintegration, rehabilitation and training of new professions, as well as employment itself, should be a guaranteed right for veterans, not privileges that they are forced to demand from their communities.
Currently, the Center for Veteran Development of the NNINO takes care of the admission of veterans to the National Aviation University for various specialties and educational and professional programs. During the week, 14 people already received advice and help in choosing a specialty and program offered by NAU.
On July 19, a meeting was held between the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the heads of the Centers for Veteran Development of Higher Education Institutions regarding the organization and financing of advanced training programs and course training, where the Center for Veteran Development of the NNINO NAU presented for consideration 21 educational programs for advanced training and course training that are practical for veterans and close to realities of life and will provide new knowledge and new skills that veterans need so much for better adaptation to civilian life. These services should be firmly embedded in the system of public services. This is what was discussed during the meeting, and the role of veteran centers and universities in the processes of long-term reintegration of Ukrainian veterans at the national, regional and local levels was also outlined.
The Veterans Development Center of NNINO NAU invites veterans, veterans, employers, charitable funds and everyone interested in helping veterans and developing the veteran movement in Ukraine to cooperate.
